Love it or not, the meetings are an important activity part for a Business Analyst. I will try in this post to give you a few suggestions in order to improve the meetings quality and probability of being finished with a win-win situation.
As often, people are the most important factor in our lives. So this is why I will attempt to focus on this matter; so no tool, no technology, no methodology to discuss here.
As Business Analysts represent a special factor in a meeting, knowing that they may represent the interest of a few parties involved, I will focus on a few suggestions to maximize the meeting goal:
I hope these thoughts of mine will help you to think more at what you think, say and do before and during a meeting. Good luck!

"don't try to "always be a winner" - so true, I have to confess that I've sometimes lost the plot in meetings and been too keen to prove that I was right rather than listen.I think the key is to focus on helping other people to express their opinions, especially the quiet ones, and not to voice your own!

Very good points, Phil. 1/22/2017 04:52:02 am
Phil, you suggest that meetings are only for decisions. What about a meeting to gather information about a problem or problem domain? What about a meeting to demonstrate a product or progress with no decision about the result? What about a status meeting with all issues postponed to problem solving meetings? It seems there may be other types of meetings which have other types of "rules" or "guidelines", no?
