The Big Data huge potential consists in improvements in cost, time and quality of the products; so, in simpler words, Big Data will influence your business development via a lot of factors business related, including decisions.
Sometimes it takes time for a new concept to be part of our professional life (eg Agile), sometimes a new one conquers us faster (eg Big Data). The main reason for this is the change involved in adoption: the first one requires all of us to change our mind-sets and behavior, whilst the second one is mostly based on a new technology.
What about a pair of these, Agile Big Data? Well, this concept is even newer, actually one of the newest trends of this year, 2015. Basically, it is about using Agile principles in running the Analytics projects.
What is Big Data? It is a term used for "so large and/or complex data" that traditional methods to deal with data are not sufficient anymore. In 2001, Doug Laney defined the 3V model for analyzing Big Data. This 3V stands for volume, velocity and variety, the first set of characteristics defined for Big Data.
Corporations know more and more about our lives. They know starting with "where we go in our physical lives, with a precision of a step", to "what we do online, with a precision of one click". I consider that this fact is gorgeous for both we, the consumers, and the corporations; this can massively improve our lives. The corporations use Big Data and sophisticated statistical analysis algorithms to do this. This has never happened before in human history.
Knowing these, we can ask ourselves: What about our privacy? What is needed in order to protect our privacy? |
