These principles above are DMAIC. There also exist DFSS and DMADV for developing new products. While conventional System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) cares about quality in the final phases of a project, Six Sigma emphasizes quality from the beginning of the project.
Due to its small age in Information Technology projects, Six Sigma methodology requires some improvements when applied in this particular sector. I am sure that they will shortly appear in the near future.
