Why to use points when estimating needed times, since we could do this simpler, by giving direct results? Apparently, it seems to be a pointless activity or, at least with a small biz value.... Waste of time, right?
Yes, apparently this is true, Still, there is a huge value in this, if we do care the final results accuracy.
I've used Agile Points in both Agile and Waterfall environments: a very good method for creating estimates. They are also used for the development teams members as a starting point to discuss their perceptions on the different software features. My finding in practical life is that these points are used to help people do a better job when "landing into the real-world".
These points help everyone to measure in a better manner the development members efforts, so they help in having an improved accuracy when doing the estimates. It is better than using estimates in time (hours, minutes). If you want more details, please read this article.
